Disney Ditches Live-Action Star Wars Shows on Disney Plus
The Disney Plus era of Star Wars content has reached a turning point. The platform's live-action shows have been de-prioritized, and it seems that only two new series are in the works: Ahsoka Season 2 and an unannounced project by Nick and Carlton Cuse.
In December 2020, Disney Investor Day announced several Star Wars projects, including A Droid Story. However, none of these shows have gained significant traction or cultural footprint.
The Mandalorian has been a rare exception, bringing in both new fans and old ones who had tuned out after the sequel trilogy. But Disney has now course-corrected, prioritizing theatrical releases over live-action TV series.
