Disney Dominates LightBox Expo Schedule with Epic Panel Lineup
The LightBox Expo has revealed its epic schedule of Disney-focused panels for 2026. The event will take place from October 23rd to 25th at the Pasadena Convention Center, with community mixer events starting on October 22nd.
Several Disney-related panels are scheduled during the three-day event, including 'Designing the Creatures of Avatar: Fire and Ash,' where creature designers will discuss their process for bringing the fauna of Pandora to life. Another panel, 'Weyland-Yutani: Designing for Science Fiction Worlds,' features concept designers whose work has helped shape the visual language of Weyland-Yutani.
Additionally, panels such as 'Virtual Production at Industrial Light & Magic' and 'The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu' will delve into the creative process behind these iconic Disney franchises. Other notable panels include 'Creative Proceduralism: The Automation Studios Actually Need,' featuring Disney visual development artist Ryan Lang, and 'Creating Beloved Characters with Pixar's Deanna Marsigliese,' where Marsigliese breaks down her process for creating iconic characters.
The event will also feature a 40th-anniversary celebration of Disney's animated classic 'The Great Mouse Detective' and a panel on the legacy of Eyvind Earle, one of this year's Concept Art Awards recipients. Other notable panels include 'Ravensburger: What We Look for in Freelance Illustrators,' where the creative team behind Disney Lorcana TCG will share their insights on freelance illustration, and 'Introducing the Art of Star Wars: Unlimited,' where the lead art directors will discuss the concept-to-card pipeline for the trading card game.
