Duluth Chamber Backs Google Data Center Project in Hermantown
The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce has thrown its weight behind Google's proposed data center project in Hermantown, Minnesota. The project is expected to create around 1,100 jobs per year and contribute an average of $136 million annually to the regional GDP from 2026 to 2029.
In a statement, Pat deGrood, chair of the Board of Directors at the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the project's economic benefits. 'We believe the proposed Hermantown Data Center represents a significant investment not only in technology and economic development, but in the infrastructure and community assets that will support future growth.'
The Chamber noted that Google has committed to spending an estimated $130 million on public infrastructure such as roads, water and sewer improvements, and investments in Hermantown schools and community programs.
