Rope Drop: The Unofficial Disney Parks Comedy is a musical comedy show that took its creators, Jordan Li-Smith and Ayesha Patel, to the stage of The Other Palace Studio in London. The show grew out of their shared love for Disney parks, which they experienced firsthand during a trip to Disneyland Paris.

Li-Smith and Patel take audiences through a day at a Disney park, from rope drop to fireworks, sharing personal stories, Disney trivia, games, and audience interaction along the way. The musical talent is considerable, with three musicians on stage alongside Li-Smith and Patel, who also performs on keys.

The show features eclectic mix of songs, including new arrangements of Disney favourites like 'Once Upon a Dream', 'When You Wish Upon a Star', and 'It's a Small World'. However, the problem lies in the dialogue, which sometimes falls flat or feels inconsistent. The tone can shift abruptly from parody to sincerity, making it difficult to pinpoint what the show truly wants to be.

Despite this, there is a fun and affectionate Disney cabaret inside Rope Drop, with genuine passion for the parks and excellent songs that shine through. To take the show to the next level, the creators need to tighten the dialogue, find a clearer structure, and let those strong songs do more of the heavy lifting.
