Disney Engineers Shorten Piston Peak Structures for Unobstructed Views

Imagineers at Walt Disney World have revealed that they shortened the structures of Piston Peak National Park to maintain clear sightlines in Magic Kingdom. The goal is for the Cars-themed area to fit seamlessly into the park's overall design, ensuring it looks perfect from every angle.

The Imagineers used balloon tests to visualize what they would be seeing from various vantage points within the park. A large balloon, roughly the size of Lightning McQueen, was lifted to the highest point of elevation, and team members spread out around the park to assess sightlines. This process helped them adjust and finalize designs accordingly.

The first test took place over a year ago, but it became clear that some elevations were too high. The Imagineers went back to their designs, made adjustments, and conducted another balloon test. This time, they reported being 'right on the money.'
