Disney Enhances Lightsabers with New Designs and Features
Disney has unveiled a fresh update to the lightsaber-building experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disney World and Disneyland. Effective immediately, guests can now create customized lightsabers with a newly refreshed “Protection and Defense” hilt theme. This design features bright white finishes paired with rich gold detailing, inspired by the High Republic era. The theme honors the ancient Jedi’s commitment to protecting others, reflecting a time of peace and hope across the galaxy.
The enhancements extend beyond just the hilt. Every lightsaber now includes upgraded features such as a thermal cutting effect, deflection effects, a spinning effect, improved audio quality, and smoother blade activation. Additionally, guests can choose special “cracked” Kyber crystals, which introduce a color-change effect, shifting the blade from blue to red with a quick wrist flick.
The upgraded lightsabers are available for purchase at Savi's Workshop on Planet Batuu in both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Given the popularity of the experience, advance reservations are highly recommended. Guests must purchase a lightsaber to participate in the workshop.
