Disney+ Expands French Programming with Groupe M6 Partnership
The Walt Disney Company France and Groupe M6 have signed a new content distribution agreement that will bring some of France's most popular television programs to Disney+, expanding their decades-long partnership. The deal allows Disney+ to strengthen its portfolio of French programming, while giving Groupe M6 a broader audience for its content.
The agreement marks a growing trend of collaboration between broadcasters and streaming platforms as both seek to broaden audiences and maximize the reach of premium local content. 'M6 has created programs that have achieved real success with French audiences,' said Karl Holmes, General Manager of Disney+ EMEA. 'We are delighted to bring some of these iconic titles to Disney+, particularly those popular with younger viewers.'
The partnership will see four flagship programs from M6 become available on Disney+: 'Scènes de ménages' and 'En Famille' debut on September 25, followed by 'Mariés au premier regard' and 'The Power : Qui a le pouvoir ?' in early 2027. Over time, several hundred episodes will be added to the service.
The agreement serves as a test case for new distribution models designed to respond to evolving viewing habits and increase the visibility of locally produced content. It reflects the increasing convergence between traditional broadcasters and global streaming platforms in the French media market.
