Disney Extends BoardWalk Inn and Old Key West Resort Refurbishments Through 2027
Walt Disney World has extended the refurbishment timelines for two of its resort hotels, affecting guests planning stays at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s Old Key West Resort. The work at BoardWalk Inn and Villas, originally scheduled to wrap up by late 2026, will now continue through 2027. The updated notice states that refurbishment in select areas will take place throughout this period, with guests likely to encounter construction activity during daytime hours.
The ongoing projects in the BoardWalk area include recent upgrades like the refurbishment of the Village Green, where artificial turf was installed. Additional work is set to begin in January 2027, with the Luna Park Pool, Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations scheduled to close for routine maintenance through April 2027. The Villas Pool and Inn Pool will remain open during this closure.
Meanwhile, Disney’s Old Key West Resort is also undergoing extended maintenance. The Hospitality House, the resort’s main guest services and lobby area, will continue its exterior maintenance through fall 2026. Guests may experience daytime construction noise and temporary changes to walking routes. The resort has also been updating guest rooms and conducting routine maintenance on pool and recreation areas, including the Turtle Pond and South Point areas.
Disney has not provided specific details on which additional areas will be affected or a definitive completion date for the refurbishments. Guests visiting these resorts during the ongoing work should be prepared for potential disruptions.
