Disney Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged On-Set Abuse of Child Actress
Former child actress Raquel Lee has filed a lawsuit against Disney alleging that she was sexually assaulted by an employee in 2001 while filming 'The Poof Point'.
The incident allegedly occurred when Lee, then 14 years old, was invited to a middle-aged Disney staff member's hotel room under the pretense of practicing lines. The staff member reportedly gave her alcohol and assaulted her.
The lawsuit accuses Disney of maintaining an unsafe environment for children on its sets, allowing adults to interact with minors without proper supervision. Lee's legal team emphasized the need for accountability in the entertainment industry, stating that 'this conduct is inexcusable, and those involved, directly or indirectly, must be held accountable.'
The lawsuit also criticizes Disney for failing to protect Lee and separating her from her guardian during filming.
