Disney+ Fails to Deliver as Streaming Competition Heats Up
Disney+, the streaming service from The Walt Disney Company, has a problem it needs to fix quickly. With many users subscribing to multiple platforms, including HBO Max, Apple TV, and Prime Video, Disney+ is struggling to compete with its offerings.
The issue lies in the platform's lack of original content. Although Disney knew that original content would be key to its strategy from the beginning, it has pulled back on initiatives under new leadership. This has led to a significant decrease in major live-action projects on the horizon for Disney+.
Some upcoming shows include VisionQuest and Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but beyond that, there is nothing announced. The cancellation of Wonder Man's second season only adds to the concern. If this trend continues, it could be years before Disney+ sees improvement.
In an attempt to fill the void, Disney has been adding podcasts to its platform in large numbers. While some are original projects from Disney studios, many are licensed content that can be found elsewhere. This may not be enough to keep subscribers engaged.
