Disney Fans Debate Galaxy’s Edge Future Expansion or Improvement
Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is sparking debate among fans about its future expansion, with many arguing that improving the current land should take priority over adding new space. Since its 2019 opening, Galaxy’s Edge has featured two major attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, but some fans believe the land has been underutilized, lacking promised elements like a full-service restaurant and live entertainment.
A recent Reddit discussion highlighted concerns about guest flow and the land’s overall atmosphere. Many users suggested that Disney should enhance existing areas rather than expand, with one top comment earning over 750 upvotes, stating that Galaxy’s Edge ‘needs to fill it’ with the originally planned dining and entertainment options. Others proposed ideas like rooftop firefights, drone space battles, and a Yoda meet-and-greet to make Batuu feel more immersive.
One recurring idea was the addition of a slower-paced attraction, such as the ‘Bantha ride,’ a People Mover-esque experience that was reportedly cut as a cost-saving measure. Former Disney Imagineering employee Frank Mezzatesta confirmed that plans for this attraction were ‘pretty far along’ before being scrapped. Fans argue that such a ride would provide a much-needed alternative to the land’s high-thrill offerings, catering to families with younger children.
Some fans also debated whether Galaxy’s Edge or Pandora should be prioritized for expansion, with one user suggesting that Galaxy’s Edge might see updates first. However, Disney has not confirmed any immediate plans for either land, given the extensive developments already underway across Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
