Disney Greenlights Kingdom Hearts Anime Series
Disney has officially greenlit an anime series based on the popular 'Kingdom Hearts' video game franchise. The announcement was made by actor Benjamin Bratt during the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel at D23, a fan event held for Disney enthusiasts.
The new series will be developed in close collaboration with original game creator Tetsuya Nomura and developer Square Enix. It will reimagine the story with an original narrative, expanding the broader universe of the franchise.
Bratt also confirmed that he will reprise his role as Ernesto de la Cruz in the upcoming 'Kingdom Hearts IV' video game, which is set to debut in late 2027. The Kingdom Hearts anime series does not have a premiere date yet, but it's expected to air on Disney Channel and Disney+.
