Disney Guests Urged to Monitor Forecasts Amid Quiet Atlantic Hurricane Season

The Atlantic hurricane season is underway and will continue through November 30, 2026. While forecasts predict a quieter-than-normal season, it's essential for Walt Disney World guests to stay informed about tropical weather.

The latest outlook from NOAA suggests a 75% chance of the season being below normal, with only a 5% chance of above-normal activity. Between seven and 13 named storms are predicted during the season, including two that have already formed.

The peak of hurricane activity typically occurs in early September, making August, September, and October crucial months for Disney guests to monitor forecasts closely. A tropical system can develop rapidly, changing from a manageable storm to a major disruptor over just a few days.

Tropical weather doesn't need to become a major hurricane to affect a Disney vacation; named storms can bring significant rain and wind even at sustained speeds of 39 mph. Walt Disney World may temporarily close its theme parks or adjust operations during severe weather, so flexibility is key for guests visiting during peak hurricane season.
