Disney Heads into Earnings with Analysts Expecting 7.4% Revenue Growth
Disney's (DIS) earnings report is just around the corner, scheduled for Wednesday before market open. The entertainment and media giant has been a mixed bag in recent quarters, with its last report beating revenue expectations but also missing Wall Street's EPS estimates.
Last quarter, Disney reported revenues of $25.17 billion, up 6.5% year on year. This time around, analysts expect the company's revenue to grow 7.4%, a significant improvement from the 2.1% increase in the same quarter last year.
Despite some peers in the consumer discretionary segment already reporting their Q2 results, Disney's estimates remain intact. Scholastic's revenues decreased 6.3% year on year, while AMC Entertainment reported revenues up 14.2%. The latter topped analysts' estimates by 8.7%, causing its stock to rise 13.4%.
As the market heads into earnings season, investors in the consumer discretionary segment have shown steady hands, with share prices flat over the last month. Disney, however, is up 1% and has an average analyst price target of $126.51, compared to its current share price of $98.32.
