Disney Honors Marvel Legend Jack Kirby with New Plaque
A new plaque honoring Jack Kirby has been installed at the entrance of Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure. The legendary artist's work on Marvel characters is celebrated across the campus.
Kirby was born on August 28, 1917, and throughout his career, he helped create iconic characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Hulk, and the Fantastic Four.
The plaque was unveiled before park opening on August 28th, Kirby's 109th birthday. Editor-in-Chief Stephen Wacker joined members of the Kirby family for the unveiling ceremony, along with Brent Davies (Vice President, Disney California Adventure Park) and Brent Strong (Executive Creative Director, Walt Disney Imagineering).
The plaque features a quote from Jack Kirby: 'If you look at my characters, you will find me. No matter what kind of character you create or assume, a little of yourself must remain there.'
