Disney Honors Susan Egan as a Legendary Voice Actress

Susan Egan is one of the newest Disney Legends to be honored at the upcoming D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. As a voice actress, she is being recognized for her iconic roles in Disney films and Broadway productions. Egan's journey began when she originated the role of Belle in the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast, earning Tony Award and Drama Desk nominations for Best Actress.

She also lent her voice to Megara in Walt Disney Animation Studios' feature film Hercules (1997). In an interview, Egan reflected on her experience with Belle, saying 'She doesn't fit in. She's intelligent, she's a reader, she's not a damsel in distress.' As for Meg, she observed, 'Meg is definitely sarcastic and a little jaded. She can just look at a guy who's as innocent as Hercules and push all his buttons.'

Egan's contributions to Disney go beyond her voice acting work. She has also headlined on Broadway in various productions and guest-starred on TV shows such as Modern Family and NYPD Blue. In addition, she voiced leading roles in Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away and Porco Rosso.
