Disney Imagineer Backs Ariana Grande's Tower of Terror Defense

Legendary Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde has spoken out in support of Ariana Grande's impassioned defense of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride at Disney World. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rohde stated that he agrees with Grande's sentiment, calling the ride a 'masterpiece' and a 'classic.' The Florida Tower of Terror is considered one of the best iterations of the ride, with its unique design, storytelling, and attention to detail.

Rohde, who spearheaded the transformation of Disneyland's Tower of Terror into a Guardians of the Galaxy ride in 2017, emphasized that he had never heard any plans from Disney executives to revamp or change the Orlando version. He also noted that the Guardians of the Galaxy ride was specifically designed for the Disneyland Resort and not intended for other locations.

The Tower of Terror has been replicated at various Disney parks around the world since its opening in 1994, but Rohde believes that the Florida version stands out as a masterpiece of design and storytelling. His comments come amid recent announcements from Disney regarding new projects and updates to their theme parks, including the Villains Land area heading to Magic Kingdom and the Indiana Jones ride coming to Animal Kingdom.
