A former Walt Disney World Resort cast member is facing felony robbery and grand theft charges after authorities say she stole over $2,000 worth of merchandise from the World of Disney store at Disney Springs on June 12.

Cynthia Elizabeth Molina, 28, of Orlando, was familiar with Disney's retail policies and procedures during her time working in retail at Disney's Animal Kingdom. According to the arrest report, she knew which uniformed staff members were empowered to stop her, allowing her to avoid detection until store surveillance footage caught her.

Molina allegedly filled a reusable bag with 100 items, including Mickey Mouse plush toys, jewelry, and other trinkets, before attempting to leave the store. When confronted by a manager wearing his Disney uniform with badge and credentials, Molina pushed him back and walked out of the store, later changing her appearance at the nearby Raglan Road restaurant.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office incident report notes that Molina's insider knowledge was a key factor in the alleged crime. Employee theft accounts for nearly a third of all retail shrinkage in the United States, with former employees often retaining institutional knowledge of their employer's loss-prevention systems.
