Disney Installs Emergency Fan at EPCOT Amid Record-Breaking Heat
Walt Disney World Resort has made an unannounced addition to EPCOT's World Showcase, installing a large industrial fan between the Italy and American Adventure Pavilions. This move comes after the hottest summer on record in Central Florida, with July seeing an average temperature of 84.4 degrees Fahrenheit, making it the second-hottest summer since 1903.
The extreme heat caused by the prolonged drought led to repeated heat warnings at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. To mitigate this, Walt Disney World Resort took extra measures to keep guests cool, including installing the fan.
The fan is located on a walkway, surrounded by yellow tape to protect guests from its spinning blades. It is likely that the fan will be removed once cooler temperatures arrive in Central Florida later this year.
