Disney Joins Streaming Price Hike Frenzy: Disney+, Hulu Costs Rise
The Walt Disney Company has announced price hikes for its subscription plans, including Disney+, Hulu, and certain bundle options. The standalone ad-free plans for both services will increase by $2.50, or 13%, to $21.49 a month each. The cost of the plans with ads will rise by 50 cents to $12.49 per month.
The price hikes are not limited to these individual services; Disney is also increasing the cost of its ad-free plan that bundles both services to $21.99, up from $19.99.
According to CBS News, new subscribers will see the increased prices immediately, while existing customers will experience the changes next month. The company's most popular bundle, a joint Disney+/Hulu subscription with ads, will remain priced at $12.99.
The price increases come as streaming services continue to raise their rates across the board. Apple has raised its prices four times in four years, and Netflix last increased its pricing in March 2026. The trend of 'streamflation', where consumers are forced to pay more for streaming services, has led to an estimated 39% of U.S. customers canceling a service in the past six months.
