Disney Joins Streaming Price Hike Trend with New Rate Increase
The streaming industry is experiencing inflation as Disney raises prices for its services, joining other major players like Peacock and Apple TV. The ad-free Disney+ and Hulu bundle will now cost $21.99 a month, up from $19.99, while standalone plans are increasing to $21.49 per month.
Disney's latest price hike comes roughly a year after its last major increase, and it's not an isolated incident in the industry. Netflix has also raised prices earlier this year, and Peacock and Apple TV did so in August. Disney+ initially launched with a basic monthly subscription of $6.99.
The increased revenue from streaming services is becoming a crucial part of Disney's business. In its third-quarter 2026 results, the company reported that entertainment streaming revenue from Disney+ and Hulu rose 11% to $5.5 billion, driven by subscriber growth and previous price increases.
