Disney Lays Off Around 300 Employees Amid Cost-Cutting Efforts
The Walt Disney Company has announced another round of layoffs as part of its cost-cutting efforts. According to an anonymous source, around 300 employees are being let go, primarily in human resources and technology roles.
This is the latest in a series of workforce reductions since Josh D'Amaro took over as CEO in March. In April, Disney planned to eliminate up to 1,000 roles as part of a restructuring effort to consolidate its enterprise marketing division.
The company has stated that it aims to use these cost savings to invest in growth and implement its 'One Disney' strategy, which seeks to integrate various divisions and align intellectual property across film, streaming, theme parks, consumer goods, gaming, and sports.
