Disney Lays Off Hundreds Amid Leadership Transition Challenges
Disney has announced layoffs that will impact hundreds of employees across various sectors. According to Deadline, the tech and HR departments will be most affected by the cuts.
The layoffs come amid a leadership transition at Disney, with Josh D'Amaro taking charge as CEO in March. The company is facing significant challenges, including the rise of AI, declining box office revenue, and intense competition from streaming rivals.
This latest round of layoffs follows previous cuts made in April, where about 1,000 positions were eliminated across various departments. In July, Disney laid off several hundred employees, including those at Pixar, ESPN, Disney Studios, and Disney Entertainment Television.
