Disney Lays Off Hundreds Amid Restructuring Efforts
Disney is reportedly undergoing another round of layoffs, this time targeting hundreds of employees across multiple departments. According to Reuters, citing a source familiar with the matter, the company is cutting jobs in its human resources and technology departments.
The move comes amid a leadership transition at Disney, which saw Josh D'Amaro take charge as CEO in March. The company has been undergoing significant restructuring efforts, including offering voluntary early retirement packages to longtime executives in August.
Disney had previously cut around 1,000 positions across its marketing group and other parts of the company in April, with further job cuts reported in July at Pixar, ESPN, Disney Studios, and Disney Entertainment Television.
The latest layoffs are part of a broader effort to reduce costs amid declining box office revenue and increased competition from streaming rivals. Disney employed around 231,000 people as of fiscal year 2025, with about 172,000 based in the US and 59,000 working outside the country.
