Disney Legend Joe Potter's Untold Story Revealed in Upcoming Biography
A new biography by historian Brian D. Laslie will soon recount the life of Major General William E. 'Joe' Potter, a U.S. Navy general and Disney Legend who played a crucial role in building Walt Disney World.
Potter's remarkable career spanned over three decades, during which he helped sustain Allied forces after D-Day, governed the Panama Canal Zone at the height of Cold War tension, and directed operations for the 1964 New York World's Fair. He later joined Walt Disney's inner circle to oversee construction of Walt Disney World.
According to Dick Nunis, former president of Walt Disney Attractions, 'Joe was a man Walt Disney was very fond of. Without Joe Potter there would be no Walt Disney World today.'
The book, titled D-Day to Disney World, will be released on February 9, 2027, and is currently available for pre-order at $45.95.
