Disney Logo Hits the Gridiron as UCF Partners with Theme Park
College football teams are increasingly incorporating corporate branding into their uniforms and helmets as a way to generate revenue. Central Florida (UCF) has taken this trend to new heights by partnering with Walt Disney World, featuring the iconic logo on the back of their helmets for the remainder of the season.
The partnership between UCF and Walt Disney World is not a surprise, given the close proximity of the university to the theme park. In fact, many UCF students have participated in Walt Disney World's student outreach programs or gone on to work at the park.
UCF athletic director Terry Mohajir stated that 'Walt Disney World is part of the fabric of Central Florida, and we are incredibly proud to feature its logo on our football helmets.' The agreement marks a significant step in the evolution of college athletics, with teams seeking new sources of revenue through sponsorship deals.
It's worth noting that UCF is not the only Big 12 program to have partnered with a major brand. Monster Energy has a multi-year deal with the conference, featuring its logo on team jerseys and fields.
