'Disney Magic Inspires Musical with Unseen Stories Behind the Rides'

Disney magic has inspired Emilie Scheetz's first musical, 'The Single Rider Songbook', which won awards at the Orlando Fringe Festival and will be performed at The Abbey from September 28 to 30. Scheetz, a Dr. Phillips resident, worked as a skipper on the Jungle Cruise in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom before discovering the behind-the-scenes knowledge of other Disney attractions and rides.

Scheetz fell in love with the theming and dedication that brings Disney magic to life. She drew inspiration from her favorite attractions, including Spaceship Earth and Pirates of the Caribbean, which she incorporated into her musical. The six characters originating from the parks are brought into the spotlight, diving into the untold stories behind their attractions.

'The Single Rider Songbook' is a love letter to Disney and anyone who has or will work for Walt Disney World like Scheetz. Her parents met as cast members opening MGM Studios, and she spent her childhood making memories in the parks. She worked at various attractions during her time on the Disney College Program.
