Disney Names Adam Smith as Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer
The Walt Disney Company has reorganized its entertainment leadership, naming Adam Smith as Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer. This move sees Smith taking charge of the company's global entertainment subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) business.
Dana Walden, President and Chief Creative Officer, announced the appointment, highlighting Smith's exceptional work in building a world-class team and enhancing the Disney+ user experience globally over the past two years. Smith joined Disney in 2024 from Google and YouTube, where he held executive roles across multiple divisions.
In his expanded role, Smith will oversee Disney+ and Hulu, including product, engineering, advertising technology, programming strategy, viewer experience, partnerships, and data and analytics. He will also drive strategy and development across Disney Entertainment's streaming platforms, proprietary advertising technology, and emerging technologies.
