Disney Names Adam Smith Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer Operations
Disney has made significant changes to its top TV ranks, naming Adam Smith as the chairman of direct-to-consumer operations. Smith will oversee Disney+ and Hulu, including product, engineering, advertising technology, programming strategy, viewer experience, partnerships, and data & analytics. He previously shared leadership with Joe Earley as co-president of direct-to-consumer.
Earley is shifting to a newly created role of president of Disney Entertainment Television franchise and content strategy, leading the strategic development of franchises and maximizing their value. The changes come at a time when Disney is focused on making Disney+ a main focal point for the company.
Eric Schrier has moved from his role as head of international originals to a production pact amid the larger shakeup of Disney TV leadership. He will continue working with the team through a new producing partnership with DET.
