Disney Names New Legends, Honors 55-Year Veteran
The Walt Disney Company has announced its latest group of Disney Legends, including Kim Irvine, who will receive the honor in the Imagineering category. The annual recognition is a 39-year tradition that celebrates individuals who have made a lasting impact on Disney's entertainment, storytelling, and experiences.
Irvine, who has spent 55 years at Walt Disney Imagineering, reflected on her contributions to the company and what it means to be named a Disney Legend. She expressed gratitude for being part of creating memories for guests over the years and emphasized the importance of staying true to Walt's vision for Disneyland, which was to create a living place that evolves and grows.
Irvine shared her experiences working with original Imagineers, absorbing their knowledge and stories about Walt Disney and the creation of Disneyland. She highlighted the balance between preserving classic elements and introducing innovation, noting that changes can be difficult but necessary to keep the park relevant.
