Disney Offers Early Retirement Packages to Executives Amid Ongoing Restructuring
The Walt Disney Company is offering voluntary early retirement packages to its executives as part of a broader cost-cutting effort. According to Deadline, Sonia Coleman, EVP and Chief People Officer, unveiled the Voluntary Early Retirement Offer (VERO) in a memo to eligible directors and above. The program targets executives who have combined 65 points from age and tenure, with minimums of 50 years of age and 10 years of service.
The offer comes after Disney announced layoffs in April and July, with the company stating that more involuntary reductions are expected next year. Coleman emphasized that the VERO is part of Disney's transformation efforts to reduce costs and invest in key areas such as content, technology, and experiences.
It remains unclear how many senior executives will accept the offer or how long the election window will last. The financial cost of the program has also not been disclosed. However, the VERO is seen as a way for Disney to soften the blow of its ongoing corporate restructuring while trimming costs ahead of further layoffs.
