Google's Secret App Spies on Users' Battery Life and RAM

Google has secretly installed an app called Android Pulse on millions of devices without users' knowledge. The app, available for download over 10 million times on the Google Play Store, is designed to monitor other apps and prevent them from consuming excessive resources like battery life or RAM.

The system app was first discovered by website 9to5Google, which found that it's intended not only for Android 17 but also for older versions of the operating system. Android Pulse runs continuously in the background, collecting data on battery consumption and RAM usage across all applications and sending it to Google.

While the app is aimed at ensuring a more secure and stable experience for users, its extensive permissions have raised concerns among some Android users. The lack of information provided by Google about how the app works has also contributed to distrust.
