Disney Offers Voluntary Early Retirement Packages to Select Executives Amid Cost-Cutting Efforts
Disney is offering voluntary early retirement packages to select executives as part of its ongoing cost-cutting efforts. In an email sent on August 24, Chief People Officer Sonia Coleman announced the Voluntary Early Retirement Offer (VERO) for eligible employees. This move comes after hundreds of layoffs were reported at various Disney studios in July.
The VERO is available to U.S.-based non-contracted employees who meet specific criteria: they must be 50 or older, have at least 10 years of service, and score 65 points based on age and years of service. Those who accept the offer will receive separation pay, continued vesting of existing equity awards, healthcare support, and Silver Pass access to Disney parks.
Coleman emphasized that retirement is a deeply personal decision and stated that the company's goal is to provide employees with the necessary information, time, and support to make an informed choice. The offer recognizes the service and contributions of eligible executives who choose to retire early.
