JPMorgan Chase has hired Dan McDow from Citigroup to lead its east coast technology investment banking business, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters. The move comes as dealmaking in the space is thriving due to recovering valuations within the software sector and ongoing activity linked to artificial intelligence.

McDow will join JPMorgan in New York later this year after spending four years as Citi's global head of software investment banking. He has two decades of experience in the field, having previously worked at Credit Suisse.

JPMorgan is bolstering its technology investment bank with a series of hires, including David Fishman, who will join from Bank of America to lead North American technology mergers and acquisitions. Fishman and current Head of Technology M&A Vineet Seth will sit on the newly-formed Technology M&A Leadership and Advisory Council.
