Disney Parks and Cruise Line Unveil Exciting Updates
Disney has been busy updating its theme parks and cruise line, and fans got a glimpse of what's in store at the D23 fan event. According to Chuck Lionberger, an independent travel advisor affiliated with MEI-Travel, Disney provided updates on ongoing projects and announced new ones.
Lionberger said that Hollywood Studios' new Monstropolis area is set to open in 2027, followed by a new coaster. Meanwhile, construction has begun on Magic Kingdom's Piston Peak area, which will feature Cars Land with a ride called Cars Ridge Run Rally, as well as Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin.
At Epcot, the Spaceship Earth attraction is being reimagined to focus on human connections. Although no timeline has been announced, Lionberger said the project could take some time to complete.
Animal Kingdom is also getting a makeover, with the Yeti attraction at Expedition Everest set to be repaired after years of being down due to engineering challenges. The park's upcoming Indiana Jones attraction, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, will feature an audio-animatronic figure based on Harrison Ford.
Disney Cruise Line is planning to add two new ships in a mid-sized class, smaller than the Wish class.
