Disney Parks Attendance Surges Amid Strong IP Offerings and Expanded Capacity
Disney's theme park attendance and revenue have seen significant growth in Q3 2026. According to CFO Hugh Johnston, domestic Disney Parks attendance grew by 3% during this period, while global attendance increased by 4%. The Disney Experiences division generated $10 billion in revenue and $3 billion in operating income, a 20% increase.
The company attributes the growth to its strong intellectual property offerings at Walt Disney World and a shift in marketing focus towards domestic audiences. Johnston noted that the investments in new experiences and expansions, such as Monstropolis and Avengers Campus, have increased park capacity and provided additional value for consumers.
Disney is sensitive to ticket pricing, particularly for young families with limited budgets. However, the company hopes that as these families' wealth increases over time, they can upgrade to premium offerings like Lightning Lane and VIP tours.
In terms of Disney Cruise Line, Johnston stated that despite adding 50% more guest rooms in recent years, the company is still struggling to meet demand. The focus remains on maintaining high guest satisfaction scores, capacity utilization, and yield.
