Disney has indefinitely postponed the release of its live-action film Mulan, which was previously set for August 21. This marks the fifth delay for the movie, following four prior postponements. The studio cited ongoing uncertainties surrounding the global health crisis as the reason for the decision.

In addition to Mulan, Disney has also pushed back the release dates for three upcoming Star Wars films by a year. The new dates are December 22, 2023, December 19, 2025, and December 17, 2027. James Cameron's Avatar sequels have also been delayed, with the new release dates set for December 16, 2022; December 20, 2024; December 18, 2026; and December 22, 2028.

A Disney spokesperson stated, "Over the last few months, it's become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our release plans for 'Mulan' as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world."

Other films affected by the delays include Unhinged, starring Russell Crowe, and Tenet, directed by Christopher Nolan. AMC Theaters has also announced it will delay reopening cinemas until mid to late August due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Despite these delays, Disney confirmed that several other films are still on track for release this year, including The New Mutants on August 28, The King's Man on September 18, Death on the Nile on October 23, Black Widow on November 6, and West Side Story on December 18.
