Disney Realigns Consumer Products Division Under Entertainment Studios
The Walt Disney Company is restructuring its Consumer Products division, shifting most of its business under Disney Entertainment Studios. The move aims to better align consumer products with the creative teams and content development at Disney Entertainment Studios. This change will take effect in October 2026.
Disney continues to lead the global licensing industry, having generated $63 billion in retail sales of licensed consumer products across more than 100 product categories in over 180 countries in 2025. As part of this restructuring, no leadership changes have been announced.
The Consumer Products division plays a crucial role in translating Disney stories into everyday consumer experiences, according to Thomas Mazloum and Alan Bergman. They stated that the evolution honors the work of Disney Consumer Products employees around the world and positions the company to create greater opportunities for Disney stories, characters, products, and experiences.
This move comes after a round of layoffs at The Walt Disney Company late last month as part of its One Disney initiative to streamline the company. Disney will provide additional updates on the transition throughout 2026.
