Nvidia Surges Ahead of Tesla as Robotics Leader
The robotics industry is rapidly advancing and companies are trying to capitalize on its future potential. Morgan Stanley estimates that the market potential for humanoid robotics could be worth $5 trillion by 2050.
Nvidia (NVDA) and Tesla (TSLA) are making significant progress in this space, but Nvidia appears to be the clear winner between these two robotics stocks.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said that 'every industrial company will become a robotics company', and management believes its physical AI opportunity could be its next big tech opportunity. To make its physical AI goals a reality, Nvidia has developed a universal, open-source AI foundation model for humanoid robots called Isaac GR00T.
Nvidia also debuted its Halos full-stack safety system for robots in June, combining software, sensors, and processors to create a safety ecosystem for humanoid robotics. The company's Jetson Thor supercomputer is used by leading robotics companies, including Boston Dynamics and Amazon Robotics, for artificial intelligence inference training and robotic simulation.
Tesla's approach to robotics is different from Nvidia's, with the company focused on building a physical humanoid robot called Optimus. However, Tesla is going through an identity crisis, trying to transition away from being just an EV company while focusing on robotics.
