Disney Refreshes Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Facade
Walt Disney World Resort is pressing ahead with the refurbishment of its Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction. The project, which began in May, has seen scaffolding removed from the facade of the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
The first signs of construction appeared in early spring when a permit was filed for the haunted drop ride. In May, Disney refreshed portions of the outdoor queue, and protective scrim fabric was applied to decorative elements above the gift shop at the ride's exit.
As the project progressed, scaffolding slowly wrapped around the front of the building, following the path of the elevator shafts until it reached the top of the nearly 200-foot-tall structure. The paint job, while fresh, matched how the attraction has looked for decades, suggesting that Disney simply aims to refresh the building after years of weathering.
More scaffolding has now been removed from the Hollywood Tower Hotel, with bright yellow squares visible in one area being painted over to give a seamless, worn-pink look. However, Disney has not confirmed when it expects the project to be complete.
