Disney Renovates 55-Year-Old Contemporary Resort Amidst Late 2027 Completion
Walt Disney World Resort is embarking on a major renovation project at its Contemporary Resort, which has been an iconic part of the Magic Kingdom Resort Area since its opening in 1971. The main A-frame building, housing amenities like Chef Mickey's and the Monorail station, is undergoing exterior refurbishment. Construction began in September 2024, with scaffolding appearing on the Magic Kingdom side of the Contemporary Tower this summer.
The project aims to restore walls, windows, and balconies, maintaining the original look of the building. The refurbishment will be completed by late 2027, according to Disney's official webpage for the Deluxe Resort hotel. During construction, guests may experience disruptions, including alternate paths of travel and potential noise during daytime hours.
