Disney Restores Beloved Clock at 'it's a Small World' Ahead of Schedule
Walt Disney World has given its classic 'it's a small world' attraction a welcome boost, restoring a 55-year-old clock that was unexpectedly repaired ahead of schedule.
The iconic timepiece, which is part of the colorful façade outside the attraction, stopped working recently due to a problem with one of its moving elements. Initially, Disney estimated it would take more than three weeks to fix the issue and obtain a necessary part, but instead, the clock returned to operation just over a week after it broke down.
The 'it's a small world' attraction has been a Magic Kingdom staple since the park opened in 1971, making it one of the oldest rides at Walt Disney World. The clock is an essential component of the exterior show, which features a large smiling face, rotating gears, flowers, and spinning hands that create a miniature spectacle before guests enter the queue.
While the clock's repair may seem like a minor detail to some visitors, it's a significant aspect of maintaining the attraction's original charm. Disney has made substantial investments in new experiences at Magic Kingdom, but preserving classic attractions like 'it's a small world' is also crucial for keeping the park's history and nostalgia alive.
