Disney Restores Beloved Yeti Animatronic on Expedition Everest Roller Coaster

One of Disney's most iconic yeti animatronics on the Expedition Everest roller coaster at Walt Disney World has been stuck in place for nearly two decades. But, after years of fan requests and technical struggles, the company is finally fixing the broken figure.

The 20-foot-tall yeti was one of the largest Audio-Animatronic figures ever created by Disney's Imagineers when it first opened on the ride in 2006. However, due to technical difficulties, the animatronics system has been unable to move the massive creature, leading fans to nickname it 'disco yeti' since a strobe light was used as a substitute.

Thanks to advancements in Audio-Animatronic technology, Imagineers have finally found a solution to the problem. The company announced at its D23 convention that the yeti will be restored to its original, moving form for riders on Expedition Everest.
