Disney Reveals Revised Concept Art for Monstropolis Pre-Show
Disney has shared a revised version of the concept art for the "Welcome to Monstropolis" pre-show at the Glob Theater in Monstropolis, part of Disney's Hollywood Studios. The latest image reveals several key differences from the initial version displayed at the Walt Disney Imagineering Presents exhibit last week.
The most noticeable change is the lighting. The first version featured chandeliers with eyeballs and teeth, while the new artwork depicts traditional ornate chandeliers with globe bulbs and a green glass bowl at the base, removing the monster-themed elements. Additionally, the poster on the left rear wall has been altered from "Silence of the Cribs" to a blue character wearing sunglasses at a keyboard, with text suggesting "Noodles" and "Glob."
Some details remain consistent between the two versions, including the Monster Concessions stand at the center of the room, the "Little Scare Machine" poster on the right rear wall, and screens along the right wall displaying "Welcome to Monstropolis." The coffered ceiling, red curtains, and patterned carpet also carry over from the first version, though the wall behind the concessions stand appears more subdued with less of the monster face pattern visible.
Disney has not clarified which version will be built or why the changes were made. Concept art often evolves before an attraction opens, so the final design may differ from both versions. The company has also not provided details about the pre-show experience. The Glob Theater will host "Welcome to Monstropolis," a show featuring Mike and Sulley, with an original song by Disney Legend Randy Newman. Parts of Monstropolis are set to open in 2027.
