Disney Reverts Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Trash Cans Amid Guest Backlash
Walt Disney World Resort has made a quiet change to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom Park, reversing a recent update to the attraction’s trash cans. The new waste receptacles, introduced earlier this year, featured curved lids, hands-free foot pedals, and solar-powered compactors. However, guests struggled with their functionality, often brute-forcing trash into the handle instead of using the pedal. Some even used the flat-top trash cans as makeshift tables during crowded festivals at EPCOT.
The new trash cans were removed from the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue on October 4, with the old metal bins reinstated. It remains unclear whether the new receptacles will return or if this is a permanent change. The new design is still in use elsewhere across the parks and Disney Springs, despite the backlash.
This isn’t the only change coming to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The ride, which replaced Splash Mountain in 2024, is set to close for its first-ever refurbishment on November 2, 2026. While the reopening is expected in December, no exact date has been announced by Walt Disney World Resort.
