Disney Rolls Out New Trash Cans, Adds Countertops Amid Guest Complaints

Walt Disney World has made changes to its trash can design in an effort to reduce waste and provide more space for guests. The new cans feature a curved top with solar panels that power compacting inside, allowing them to hold more trash and be emptied less often.

The change drew complaints from guests who were frustrated by the lack of convenient eating areas at the parks, particularly during EPCOT's festivals. In response, Disney implemented pop-out countertops that attach to existing fences or fixtures, providing additional space for guests to eat while minimizing waste.

According to Joe Schott, the new President of Walt Disney World, the leadership team listened to guest feedback and implemented a solution. The countertops were inspired by a similar design used at Disneyland's Disney California Adventure park during food festivals.
