Disney Rolls Out Themed Trash Cans Across Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is in the middle of a sweeping replacement project for its trash cans. The initiative, which started in June, aims to replace classic cans with new solar-powered models that feature built-in compactors and foot pedals for easy lid opening.

The first wave of new bins was met with criticism due to their unthemed design, but Disney has since rolled out versions tailored to specific park areas. The most recent additions include five sets in EPCOT's World Nature area and seven in Pandora: The World of AVATAR at Animal Kingdom.

The new cans in World Nature feature white fronts with gray logos and neon green accents, matching the section's color scheme. In contrast, the Pandora cans are gray with orange stripes running beneath the 'TRASH' and 'RECYCLE' openings.

Disney has confirmed that the rollout will continue across all four main theme parks, as well as Disney Springs, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and both water parks. While some guests have expressed disappointment over the design changes, the new bins are expected to hold significantly more waste before needing emptying, reducing custodial cast members' workload.
