Disney Settles $50 Million Lawsuit Over Alleged Streaming Price Inflation
An antitrust lawsuit has been settled between The Walt Disney Company and subscribers of YouTube TV, DirecTV Stream, and FuboTV. The settlement, worth $50 million, was reached in a lawsuit accusing Disney of inflating prices for live pay television. Specifically, the plaintiffs claimed that Disney used its size to increase prices since taking control of Hulu in 2019.
The Walt Disney Company denied any wrongdoing but agreed to a partial settlement with YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream subscribers. If you qualify, you have until September 8th, 2026, to file a claim online or by mail. Qualifying subscribers were sent notices via email or mail, which contain a Unique ID for submitting claims.
The settlement fund will be split between two groups: those in 'repealer jurisdictions' and those in 'non-repealer jurisdictions.' Ninety percent of the remaining funds will go to class members in repealer jurisdictions. You'll receive a pro rata payment, proportional to the length of your subscription.
