Disney is restructuring its Consumer Products division, shifting most of its operations from Disney Experiences to Disney Entertainment Studios starting in October 2026. Thomas Mazloum and Alan Bergman announced the change in a joint memo, saying it will align the consumer products business with the creative teams developing content behind it.

The move aims to integrate storytelling, commerce, and experiences across the entire Disney ecosystem. Disney Consumer Products currently sits within Disney Experiences, alongside theme parks, cruise line, and Walt Disney Imagineering. Lisa Baldzicki took over as president of Disney Consumer Products in March 2023, after Tasia Filippatos stepped into a newly created position overseeing Disney Parks International.

The company reports that no leadership changes are part of the restructuring, but housing the merchandise business under Studios leadership gives Disney a more direct line from film development to store shelves. Disney remains the largest licensor in the industry, generating $63 billion in retail sales of licensed consumer products in 2025 across over 100 product categories and 180 countries.

The transition begins in October 2026, with Disney detailing which teams or functions will move first as more details emerge. Mazloum and Bergman described the shift as a continuation of existing work, saying it positions the company to create greater opportunities for Disney stories, characters, products, and experiences.
