Disney silences playful shouts in Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewand pre-show
Disney has made a subtle but noticeable change to the pre-show of its popular Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction at EPCOT. The pause that followed Nova Corps Centurion Tal Marik's question, “What do you call yourselves?”, has been removed, eliminating a gap that guests often used to shout playful or irreverent responses like “alcoholics.” The edit ensures the video transitions directly to the next line of dialogue, though Disney has not provided an official explanation for the change.
Since its opening in 2022, Cosmic Rewand has remained one of the most sought-after experiences at Walt Disney World. The ride’s high demand has led to long wait times, with standby lines peaking at 185 minutes during a recent event. Disney has also adjusted the pre-show exit process to manage the crowds better.
Fan reactions to the change have been mixed. Many Reddit users welcomed the edit, calling the shouted remarks “cringe” and noting that the humor had worn thin since the attraction’s debut. Others argued that the change might not stop disruptive behavior, predicting that guests would simply talk over the dialogue instead. Some compared it to similar issues in other attractions, like reciting lines during the Haunted Mansion pre-show.
EPCOT, known for its innovative attractions and the unofficial “Drink Around the World” activity, continues to evolve. The park, one of four at Walt Disney World, features a variety of themed experiences, from Spaceship Earth to The Seas with Nemo & Friends. The latest tweak to Cosmic Rewand reflects Disney’s ongoing efforts to balance guest interactions with the ride’s intended experience.
